Originally, I thought I wanted to have many small cakes on cake stands instead of one wedding cake. Then a couple things happened. The guest list grew and I found out that cake stands, even at the flea market, are expensive. Although I liked the idea of a bunch of small cakes, it seemed to be more pricey (not to mention more work) than having a weddding cake supplemented by sheet cake. At least for, uh, a large wedding.
We found a wonderful baker in my hometown who works out of her house, and started looking for cake ideas. At first I thought I wanted something completely simple, with maybe a few fresh flowers on it, but now I’m leaning toward something more special. You only get a wedding cake once, right? These are some of my favorite cake ideas, but actually we’ve already chosen which one to model our own wedding cake off of. Bet you can’t guess which one it is! (I’ll give you a hint – it’s no longer #8, which I showed in my wedding inspiration board…)
