I already said that I was excited for the June issue of HOW. But it wasn’t the tutorials on DIY printing that inspired me the most – it was a feature on the work of Cheryl Maeder Antonio, an artist who transforms vintage furniture into beautiful outdoor showpieces and sells them at Gardenhouse.
Our new little house has a back deck, and although we have no budget for furnishing it, I’m newly inspired to hit up the Raleigh flea market and buy a few cans of spray paint.
Now how could I hang a chandelier back there….
And I do recommend picking up the issue, check out these spreads:
and more on Mint’s flickr.
that yellow bench is breathtaking – thanks for the ideas :)

OMG. I am in love with all of those beautiful pieces and I want to transform our back patio with tons of mixed pieces like that in bright colors. I just bought some ugly furniture from B,B&B that I am hoping I can paint.
Also, at some point in my life I absolutely have to have one of those retro metal bench swings. They make my heart smile.
so cool. i’ve just started to re-finish some older furniture, and this is a great inspiration!
Hi Ellie ~
Oh my ~ aren’t those pieces brilliant? It really makes one itchy to get the paint out and go crazy with it! As the spring days warm, there is a definite strong pull to freshen up the old patio furniture … or to dig some pieces out of the back of my shop and give them a second life!
Thanks so much for sharing ~

These are all incredible photos, they make me itch with eagerness to go garage saling! How fabulous!
Oh I love that glass top! It reminds me of being at my grandma’s house in the summer.
I love that orange outdoor set..I would love to have that in my own backyard someday. I also love the pictures in that magazine…maybe I will have to pick one up. Thanks for sharing.
