our rehearsal dinner invitations

May 15th, 2009 · 23 Comments

Brendan designed our rehearsal dinner invitations, and at the last minute we decided to gocco a silhouette illustration I made and slip that in the envelopes as well. The invitations were printed at a cheap, local printer (similar to kinkos) on French Speckletone Kraft.

I gocco’d the illustration on French Mod-Tone aqua paper, which we had lying around from some previous invitation idea. It’s a patterned paper, but it’s hard to see in the photos…

We wanted them to feel casual, light-hearted and fun, and we didn’t mind a departure from our other printed materials. (see our save the dates, invitations, & programs)

On a side note, those flowers popped up in my backyard this week. Anyone know what they are?

You can see more photos of the flowers, the invitations, and a couple photos from our actual rehearsal dinner on Mint’s Flickr. Have a great weekend!

I have no idea what those flowers are, but they are pretty!

  2. those flowers are interesting and I am clueless as to what they are. There are no great sites out there for identifying random flowers, I’ve looked! Your invites are so cute. I went off the beaten path with mine as well! Very fun.

  3. Splendid type treatment! These are really fun. You and your hubby are so creative + talented. :)

  4. Love the invitation. I designed something similar for a couple. Love blocked plain black typography. PS would you please post the name of that flower if you find out? So gorgeous. Thx! Have a great weekend!

  11. Me too on the type. Kind of reminds me of when people would send blackmail note out of magazine decoupage. In a good way.

  19. i’m curious, how big are these? A7 sized?

  20. we put them in A2 envelopes, but they weren’t a perfect A2 size (they were skinnier). I can’t remember exact dimensions…

  21. I believe the flowers are “bachelor buttons” very fitting!

  22. interesting invitations…☺♦♦

  23. Your lovely flowers look like pincushion flowers to me. Check out the link and see what you think. Happy days to you and your love.
