no domain

July 21st, 2009 · 3 Comments

I’m going to go on an tangent here, but bear with me… Brendan and I saw a Super Furry Animals show a few years back, and we’ve been talking about it ever since. The music, the costumes, the crazy animation display behind the band

It came up in conversation last weekend because I suggested that my husband do some visuals for one of our musician friends. Anyway, it’s ironic because today in a logo book I came across No Domain, who is a motion design firm who… makes those crazy beautiful visuals behind a band or DJ.

It’s all coming together.

And they have some cool print work, too:

metal wallpaper by darcy milo

July 20th, 2009 · No Comments

Darcy Miro is a metal artist from NYC who makes jewelry, sculpture, and installations. She has a shop in the West Village (Bedford and Morton streets) that showcases her gold, silver, bronze and copper works. Of her work, I like the “metal wallpaper” pieces the best. Don’t you feel like raiding your local flea market of all it’s weird, rusty metal things?

student work: anthropologie’s annual report

July 20th, 2009 · 13 Comments

Aprile Elcich is a talented artist who writes the beautiful blog you are what you love. I subscribed recently, and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. Last week she wrote about a student project she just completed. The assignment was to design an annual report, and Aprile picked Anthropologie.

Her beautiful collages mesh perfectly with Anthropologie’s aesthetic and I admit when I first saw it, I thought it was the real thing. I especially love the way she handled the graphs & charts.

Visit Aprile’s post for the link to the whole report.

introducing: hello tenfold!

July 17th, 2009 · 31 Comments

It’s official! My shop really exists, and it’s called Hello Tenfold!

I’ve been so busy the past few weeks, filling shop orders that came via Mint, working on new designs, and… setting up an etsy shop! Eventually I plan to have a website so that it will be easier to customize your order, but for now Etsy seems like the perfect starting point. I’m still working out the identity, but let me know what you think about the type treatment in my shop header.

This is a new design that I just put in the shop last night. I love the pattern; it’s vintage but combined with the fonts & illustration, it definitely has a modern twist. The design is currently available as an invitation, reply card, reception card, and wedding program but I can also do save the dates, place cards & menus.

The shop will eventually carry more non-wedding stationery, and I put in a few sets of my “many thanks” gocco cards to start off.

Hooray! Thanks for visiting the shop, and as always thanks for reading Mint! Hello Tenfold is something I’ve dreamed of for a long time, so I’m really excited for it to finally be online!

Happy weekend : )

posters from the olympics

July 16th, 2009 · 14 Comments

At work, we’re trying to make a sports-themed corporate event look sophisticated & fun. Avoiding the eye-rolling cliches can be hard, but my coworker Dylan suggested we look at vintage Olympic posters for design inspiration.

Then my coworker Steve found this amazing website, which has hundreds of examples. (It’s a bit tricky to navigate, but be sure to click the year, the circles on the bottom right, as well as the summer vs. winter links for more images.)

Wouldn’t you love to hang all of these on your walls?

no-sew banner over at paper n stitch

July 15th, 2009 · 12 Comments

Brittni from Paper ‘n Stitch sent over this DIY tutorial she just did. It’s a beautiful no-sew banner that’s perfect for birthday parties, cookouts, weddings… you name it. It would be cute with some retro fabrics (think reprodepot) and looks really easy. Thanks Brittni!
