designing with a six year old

August 11th, 2009 · 18 Comments

Over the past couple of years, I’ve developed this fear of paint. I don’t know what happened, but I went from painting (and loving) my college bedroom a bold yellow-green, to a fear of anything but white walls. Our current house has beige walls, and even that has taken some getting used to. So, I’m intrigued by rooms like Kim Ludy’s son’s room, where a bold, dark color is used and… I love it.

Kim recently finished her six year old son’s room, and shared it on her tumblr blog and flickr. Head there to see more photos & read about the project!

sponsor introduction: here’s lookin at me kid

August 6th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Amanda Johnson has a beautiful blog called Here’s Lookin’ at Me Kid, and I’m so happy to welcome her as a sponsor on Mint.

Amanda stays busy scrapbooking, designing her own paper lines, keeping up with her vintage shop Half Caf, and working on a degree in interior design. In addition to blogging on those topics, Amanda blogs about decorating her home, choosing her wardrobe, and much more.

She hopes her blog can be an inspiration to both scrapbookers and people who have never picked up a pair of deco edged scissors in their lives.

So, please check out Here’s Lookin’ at Me Kid and if you feel so inclined, leave a comment or two!

Thanks, Amanda! If you are interested in becoming a Mint sponsor, please email me at mintdesignblog (at) gmail (dot) com for stats and rates.

August 6th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Rachel Bloom is a talented photographer, blogger, and etsy shop owner (wow!) who has a photo e-course starting up on Aug.24. Space is limited, so sign up soon!

The class is 4 weeks long, and will discuss several topics, including creative processing, film vs digital, composition, finding subjects, and many aspects of photography that are intuitive and subjective.  This is a “work at your own pace” class, so all skill levels are welcome—from beginner to not-so beginner! Class size is limited, so that you can interact with one another and have plenty of time to give feedback on assignments.

Thanks Rachel!
