romanticizing retail
For the past few years, I’ve been day dreaming about owning a brick-and-mortar shop. Some days it seems like a real possibility, and others I remember the startup costs, long hours, and the fact that I have no retail experience to learn from. Whenever I envision my shop, the storefront is always the first thing that I get excited about. “Window Dresser” makes my top ten careers list, seriously.
So, this morning I thought I’d share a few favorites by Anne Lucas, followed by some dramatic vintage displays this afternoon. Oh and if you haven’t seen the new Saipua shop, head over to The Scout right. now.

August 31, 2009 at 12:53 pmI love window displays so much that yesterday I wondered aloud whether or not it would be acceptable to create one in front of my (future) home.

August 31, 2009 at 3:03 pmI am even more obsessed with vacant store fronts and their potential. My husband and I take lots of different road trips and when we go through towns I stare at the abandoned shops and dream of opening my own store!!!
I just imagine all of the wonderful possibilities!

August 31, 2009 at 8:31 pmBeing a Window Dresser is a dream of mine, too! One of the best window displays I’ve ever seen were in Venice, Italy. They’so well executed, even the smallest shop has an amazing window. Especially the cheese shops!
