blue & white pottery
things are so crazy around here guys… but i promise the slow posting isn’t here to stay. after a good night’s sleep i feel better, but still playing catch-up. (inbox, yikes). i saw this beautiful blue & white pottery in Inside Out magazine—my favorite read these days—and had to share! it’s by sandra bowkett and has me on the lookout for other simple, modern, blue & white ceramics. know of any others to check out?

January 14, 2010 at 12:10 pmLovely! I have a “set” of mismatched blue and white Japanese bowls that I love. These would go very well. Blue & white is such a great combination for easy mix and match. One of my absolute favorite color combos.

January 14, 2010 at 1:23 pmHi Elllie,
Blue and white is my favourite dish combination. What I’ve been doing for years is picking up blue and white dishes from flea markets, antique shops and garage sales. Now, our collection is a mish-mash of blue and white – even if it doesn’t match, it is well coordinated and makes for interesting place settings.

January 15, 2010 at 6:43 amHi Ellie,
It is amazing how you are found, the dishes in Inside Out, and also on the cover of Vogue Living were so small, as are the dishes. And great to read comments.I have a lot of joy making these vessels so always sweet when they are apprecaited by others Thanks for including them on your blog.

January 15, 2010 at 6:46 amI should also say they are made from Southern Ice Porcelain which is a wonderful Australian porcelain and the blue is cobalt oxide, they are unglazed but as it is porcelain non porus at its ‘right’ fired temperature.

January 15, 2010 at 10:36 amThanks so much for stopping by, Sandra! As you can tell we all think they’re gorgeous! I especially love the imperfections in the shape, which make them all the more charming.

January 19, 2010 at 3:56 amFirst time here (must have been sleeping under a rock or something!). Your blog is fabutastic! Here is my little contribution: As a native Swede living in the US (for the last 15 years) I have to share something Swedish w. you! This mug was very popular in the 50′s and now it is back in production in a big way. A much needed splash of colors in all those lovely white homes! I would call it my Happy Mug!
