hand-stamped business cards

s1

This is a perfect example of why I love twitter. In a couple weeks, I’ll be on a plane headed to Salt Lake City to attend Alt Summit, a conference for design bloggers (yes, such a thing exists! and I can’t wait!). Right after I booked the reservation, flight, and hotel, it dawned on me that I would need two things: a new dress (duh) and business cards. My last set of business cards for Mint were printed for about $10 at Kinkos in the middle of the night. Like most things printed at Kinkos, they didn’t look so hot, and I left them at a couple bars and coffee shops around town. I honestly don’t care if they ended up covered in beer… they were that pathetic looking.

Since I need the cards in two weeks and am vaguely considering a Mint redesign for Spring, I ruled out letterpress and started exploring DIY options. And here’s where twitter comes in—I mentioned on twitter that I was going to DIY some business cards, and people started sending me links. Like Margaret of Paper Pastries, who kindly sent me a link to a post she wrote on hand-stamped business cards. I’ve included a few of my favorites here, but visit the Paper Pastries blog for the rest! Also be sure to check out Margaret’s own DIY business cards with stamps & embossing powder.

In the end, I think I’ve come up with a DIY solution that doesn’t involve stamping. If it works out (fingers crossed!) I’ll be sure to share!

Those are great cards! I can’t wait to see what you come up with :) Oh, and I love the dress. I’d never ever be able to pull it off, so I think that’s part of my fascination! The grass is always greener, lol.

I love these cards, especially the last. My friends and I are thinking of launching an online shoppe…so perhaps we can have you make our cards for us, if you’re taking orders!

I don’t know when the shoppe will happen (hopefully soon!!), but I would love to give recipe cards to my collaborators as a small Welcome-To-The-Business gift! Do you do recipe cards…? I noticed your website mainly features wedding invitations and place cards…?

I honestly never even thought of hand stamping business cards. This is genius. I think I’m going to do this for myself!

hey! The lovely lady behind Paper Pastries sent me here. She told me you posted her post about handmade cards and I’m flattered about all the compliments flying around.
I’m excited to see what you come up with for yours!
