if you could: collaborate

February 4th, 2010 · 5 Comments

I’m feeling hard geometry today, and I found a bunch on If You Could.

(all via the If You Could site): (1) Bart Long is a carpenter who Sam Messenger knows from art college, and together they have made a large, abstract canvas using signwriter’s vinyl and timber. (2) Industrial product designer Jorre van Ast brought in designer Damien Poulain to help make a statement about the fences that were erected for the new East London Underground line that sit between their studios. Together they produced a large-scale sculptural piece. (3) And lastly, design studio Hvass&Hannibal worked with their friend Anne Werner to create a beautiful “Op-Art medieval-like tapestry made from cotton fabric”.

One more from Hvass&Hannibal, cause everything on their site is so good:

  1. Love that wall hanging. Wondering if I can smuggle it into my living room.

  2. that first image is caraazzy

  3. Love all these pieces. So beautiful in a super graphic kind of way.

  4. I am such a geometric person myself, I love asymmetrical balance…I imagine the rectangular, striped wooden piece (second image) as a cool outdoor bench!!

  5. I love all of the If You Could projects. these pieces are stunning – I’m always feeling the hard geometry.
