This Week’s Recipe: Gluten-Free Pastel de Arroz

March 9th, 2010 · 7 Comments

For this week’s recipe, I had a hearty salad in mind. But then Pastel de Arroz from Cannelle et Vanille happened. Writer Aran grew up in a pastry shop and these flaky puff pastries with baked custard, cinnamon, vanilla and lemon peel were one of her favorites.

Making custard sounds a little too tricky for me, but I am certainly inspired to find a good bakery! If you’d like to give this a shot, or see more of Aran’s beautiful photos, click here. To see past “this week’s recipe” features, click here.

P.S. If you’re having any trouble with the new site, please shoot me an email. So far, things seem good but I figure I should double-check!

  6. I am really loving this journey our family is on with living green and making healthy choices for our home and body! I am learning how to bake and cook so much better with whole foods and I know I have a long way to go on this one, it is such fun! I especially love involving our kids in grocery shopping, food prep and cooking. We have recently tried some new yummy foods like couscous, quinoa and our favorite is Kamut Khorasan Wheat!!! I like their flour and also any pasta that uses it! Thanks for this – cute blog :)

  7. Mmmm and gluten-free, too!! How I miss chewy, flakey pastries!
