Alison – You're right on! Although, this was made to for any kind of wedding – it was inspired by all the Quaker/Dutch Marriage certificates around my area. Plus, my husband and I were actually married under a "Quaker Union"... However, after all that fun and unique ceremony stuff – the marriage certificate is a surprisingly boring blue sheet of paper with our signatures plus 2 witnesses... hence the need for something fun and new for all! Quaker weddings are awesome. There is no minister; the couple marries each other. Everyone sits in silence and if they are moved to speak about the couple they do. It is really fun! And from that tradition, in PA you don't legally need an officiant. You just get the certificate and marry each other (with at least 2 witnesses.) Cool, huh?
