links for your weekend
+ Swiss scientific photographer Martin Oeggerli is on a personal mission to reveal the secret life of pollen. We are completely mesmerized by the beauty of this miniscule world, and we’re not the only ones— “Micronaut” Oeggerli had an impressive amount of press coverage over the recent months. You can find an article over on swissinfo: Photographer reveals the secret life of pollen, an amazing Photo Gallery over at National Geographic Germany and on the NBC Front Page.
+ Love this DIY recyclable shower curtain available from Grain. Way better than those smelly (toxic) vinyl things.
+ Such beautiful photos over on Roost.
+ Do I need this bowl? Heck no. Do I want it? Badly.
+ a fun to watch video on letterpress printing
+ paper flowers for mother’s day on sparkling ink by emersonmade
+ these little drawings are hilarious
+ beautiful furniture from treadway on hoping for happy accidents
+ firm, semi-firm, silken, what? tofu 101 on fresh365
+ so the product photos are terrible, and the site is hard to navigate. but if you’re looking for antique grain sacks or wooden beaded appliques, this shop is for you. (thanks ali for the tip!)
+ LOCAL STUFF: Tonight is First Friday in Raleigh. Check out Artspace (works inspired by advertising, architecture and mixed-media installations + James Henkel’s photography), Designbox (17 of Raleigh’s Low Def Pop Artists sell works for $25, $50, or $100 + three local bands, live graffiti, Only Burger, Locopops, and a retro photo booth), and Fish Market (133 Fayetteville St., work by senior art & design students) // The First Friday Market (a project of IndieNC/Rock & Shop) debuts this weekend! I am so sorry that I’ll miss this one. Visit 131 S. Wilmington Street for handmade works by local designers, Friday 6-10pm. // This is the last weekend to see the Jacob Lawrence show at the Ackland (also at the Ackland, work by MFA students).
first two photos by eros turranos, who sells prints of anything on flickr and has an etsy shop here
