alice melvin & links for your weekend
I found Alice Melvin’s beautiful illustration work while visiting My Owl Barn. Aren’t they great? I especially love these birds:
which are available in her shop as posters and stamps.
Links for your weekend!
+ I love these invitations (and in fact, just about anything Mae Mae Paperie touches). These remind me of a set of invitations I finished a couple months ago, which I am dying to share… soon!
+ I like these house drawings by Erin Jane (aka Altantic Treefox). More of her work here.
+ Great round-ups of flickr favorites from Kristina of No Penny for Them.
+ Beautiful greens in Irene Neuwirth’s jewelry, found on the blog Compai.
+ This great dress belonging to Caroline Sieber, found on Oh Hello
+ I’ve died and gone to heaven with these patterns on mirrors from Bijan Berahimi, via Design Work Life.
+ LOCAL STUFF: See Bright Star and Fantastic Mr. Fox at the NC Art Museum tonight (8:30) for $4 // Watch master woodcarvers in action (and give it a try yourself) at the NC Museum of History (Saturday at noon) // I can’t wait to check out Islands Unknown by Paperhand Puppet at the UNC Forrest Theater. // New Durham brewery Fullsteam opens its tavern tonight for the first time. Summer Basil beer, anyone?

August 13, 2010 at 10:27 amI gave my mom the “Alice’s Aviary” poster for her birthday this year. Not only was it serendipitously perfect—her name is Alice and she’s a birder—but the print looks great in person. Highly recommended!
