I love this “hypothetical album packaging for hypothetical album” by Helen Shaffer.
Can’t go wrong with gold foil stamping and vellum!
I had a really good one (at Geer St, for you locals) and looked up this recipe in hopes you’ll make it at home. Cheers!
Recipe and photo found on Dine & Dish, originally on Epicurious.
Today we have a giveaway of a truly beautiful book, along with a brief review written by Shelley Cline, who has been helping around the studio lately!
I had the pleasure of reviewing a new collection of illustrations by Nigel Peake called In The Wilds. His muse is the self-described “middle of nowhere” Ireland where he grew up, and where he finds his adult self continually drawn (pun intended). A good reminder to get up from my computer and go outside! It seemed the only proper place to spend some quality time with this book.
It’s gorgeous. The feel of the cover, the paper, the hand-lettering. And then, of course, the illustrations. He uses a scaffolding of lines and blocks of color to give structure to a rural landscape where “things naturally fall apart.” Leafing through this book, I felt myself with Peake on one of his daily walks. Surprises abound, and there’s a horse with such presence that I was sad to only see him once. Peake says, “To let things wander…it takes time.” In The Wilds is a deep, full breath of natural wonder.

I love University of Georgia student Britt Bass’s work. Britt says, “I am interested in the juxtapositions of ideas, media, color, and shapes as well as their reconciliation. I am constantly searching for ways to create subtleties and surprises in the fine details and passageways. I start my process until the painting takes on its own life, thus a relationship is formed between my the subconscious of the painting and my own intuition. I like to explore this relationship with layering, adding, and omitting culminating in a finished, whole, piece.”
Update: You can purchase prints of Britt’s work in her Etsy shop!

Have a great weekend!
This upcycled “Delhi Rang” wallet is made from plastic bags collected from the streets of Delhi, through a non-profit in India determined to help those often referred to as ‘rag pickers’ by providing fair wage employment, education and healthcare for employees and their families. That means each wallet is one-of-a-kind. Aren’t they beautiful?
Sabine Scherer just sent over these beautiful photos she took of some koozies I designed for Melissa and George’s May wedding. Melissa and George are big music fans and wanted a fun logo or monogram that tied into their paper goods. We’ll have more photos from their wedding in the months to come!
