Lizzie and Leo of Woven Oak were visiting small rural villages in Rajasthan, India, when they discovered block-printed textiles and were inspired to combine the ancient craft of woodblock printing with contemporary textile design. All Woven Oak designs are hand drawn before being carved into Sheesham wood. The blocks are then dipped in trays of dye before being stamped by hand on to fabric. A few of my favorites are above and below, and you can find lots more, including journals, tea towels, and fabric by the yard in their shop.

Our weekend thrifting turned epic when we found the couch of our dreams, went out to lunch to think it over (since we were shopping for bookshelves, not couches, after all), came back from lunch to make the sale only to find… it sold 10 minutes earlier to a dude with a thin moustache and tassels on his shoes. Just picture a beautiful, perfectly-worn red leather Chesterfield at a fraction of its typical price. Sort of like this one, yet affordable. Why did we have to think that over??
At least we came home with this great mid-century hand-painted lamp, which almost makes up for it. OK, no it doesn’t, but it’s still pretty awesome.
I’m on the hunt for a few new throw pillows, and these hand-printed ones from i am dorkas are beautiful.
