handmade type

Pratt student Tien-Min Liao drew shapes with ink onto her hands to create this alphabet. For an extra challenge, Tien-Min did not allow herself to redraw the character in order to make its upper-case or lower-case version. “The only way to make the model transform from an upper-case to a lower-case (orvice versa) is changing the gestures or the perspectives.”

You’ve gotta hand it to Tien-Min! [Pun intended.] What a star. I love fonts and alphabets and this gets a big tick from me for originality. I love the raw creative energy of it. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
