Make it Your Own

Today I’m excited to introduce Natalie of Altruism in the Morning (you may remember her guests posts for us over the last couple weeks, here and here) as our newest Mint contributor! Natalie will be here with us once a week, sharing our new “Make it Your Own” series, where she’ll help us recreate a beautiful room. Once a month, she will replace this series with “Checking In,” posts featuring design hotels around the world. Natalie is a digital strategist by day and a blogger by night, and hails from California and Salt Lake City. Please welcome her to Mint! —Ellie

Some of you may recall seeing Jan Skácelík’s living room on apartment therapy, and if you’re like me, you likely never forgot it. This bright and cheery room, heavily influenced by Danish design is pretty crush worthy, don’t you think? I love the simple finishing touches throughout the room decorative pillows, colorful prints in equally colorful frames, and block letters sprinkled about. Mid-century furniture is readily available on ebay, etsy, and craigslist so do a little hunting to find pieces that really pull the room together. And while Jan’s Ikea Kramfor sofa is discontinued, there are numerous options to get the same bold pop of color for your focal point. I’m suddenly feeling the urge to redecorate our living room how about you?
