Make It Your Own

Kitchens are the one room everyone seems to want to re-do in their home. Thankfully, gutting an old kitchen for something new and modern is financially feasible these days for folks willing to do some of the work themselves. For those of of you familiar with the Make It Your Own series, you know that I love mixing basic pieces from Ikea with really stellar accent pieces. And the kitchen is no exception! Keep your kitchen canvas (cupboards, back splash, and counters) neutral, then play with bold accents like bright chairs, fun art work, or even bold rugs. That way if you tire of it, only the accessories need to be replaced, instead of the whole kitchen sink.
