For the Love of Home & Parties – marbleized paper covered bin

I wanted to freshen up a toy bin I had in my boys room, and when I saw this paper at Paper Source I grabbed it. I used four sheets of paper, some glue, scissors and a paintbrush. I drizzled the glue over one side, spread it out evenly with the paintbrush, placed the paper on the box and gently rubbed and smoothed it down. I left about a quarter-inch edge which I wrapped around to each side. The paper is so soft and easy to work with (but also tears easily when damp with glue – be careful), that a little overlap on the edge doesn’t really show. Repeat this process on each side.

Compared to this wastebasket for (gulp) $190, I’m pretty pleased with it! I don’t even mind the faint vertical stripes showing through – I tell myself it looks a little like the natural striations that occur in rocks. Now I’m thinking, what else can I cover in this gorgeous paper?

P.S. Today’s 24 Merry Days giveaway is on Oh The Lovely Things for a subscription to Kinfolk Magazine and a scarf from Lauren Moffatt.
