For the Love of Home & Parties – Vintage Fabric Tea Kettle Mitt

vintagefabric

I love this vintage fabric I had in my scrap bin, and I also love my classic Chantal tea kettle (I’ve had it since I was a single girl living in a studio apartment). What I don’t love about it is that the handle gets burning hot when your water boils. I’d been meaning to get, or make, a handle mitt for ages. So glad I took the 5 minutes to make this one.

Place your fabric pattern-side facing pattern-side, leaving 1/4 inch seam allowance. Stitch the three sides, then turn it inside out. To finish it off, sew a 1/4 inch-in border from the edge on the closed three sides. Put it on your kettle and voila! – no more scorched hands.
