I found Charlotte Farmer’s work this morning, and I’m hooked. Above, bird and type illustrations, and below a page from a 2004 diary. Beautiful!

I have a fibers book called Fiberarts Design Book 7 which I flip though occasionally, and even though I’ve had it for years, something new catches my eye each time I pick it up. These are works by Martha Donovan Opdahl, an artist who works with wool (below) and organdy on plexi glass (above) out of her Santa Fe studio.

Liu Xiaodong is yet another artist whose work I know because of the local Nasher Museum of Art. If you visit the Nasher, they are currently displaying his painting Hotbed, which is a whopping 32 feet long. And it’s just beautiful.

Yesterday was scary busy. I haven’t quite gotten used to the stress you have when you’re a freelancer, and there’s not a whole group of you to take the blame when things get backed up. There are just certain weekends where I shouldn’t let myself take the whole two days off (totally and completely off), and apparently last weekend was one of them. (Although, I did enjoy spending time with my family!) It was a little weird yesterday to realize that I measure how busy/stressed I am by whether I get a Mint post up. No post means I’m totally and completely overwhelmed, because with any other level of busy, I still manage to post. Somehow.

I hope I’ll catch my breath today.

This note card is a paper cut made in Hong Kong, and I can’t wait to get it in a frame. The woman who sold it to me had a whole stack but wouldn’t sell me more than one (what is with antique dealers sometimes?).

Brendan and I have picked up a few perfect finds at flea markets lately. Here’s one of my favorites, a little $2.00 (!) painting now in a new frame. Finding pretty things at flea markets is just so satisfying!

I’m completely entertained this morning by Sr. García’s collages… many more on his website. Hope you all have wonderful weekends! I’m looking forward to a little catch-up, and maybe next week on Mint will be more normal-like…
