Heather in Elle Decor

June 28th, 2010 · 6 Comments

I’m so excited for my friend and client, Heather Garrett, whose shop was included in this month’s issue of Elle Decor in a “what’s hot! shops” feature. (All the other featured shops were in California and New York City I might add, so go Durham, North Carolina)!

But wait, look closer… (really close)… those are my photographs on the wall! The closest I’ll ever get to being in Elle Decor, folks! Ha!

Jokes aside, it’s a huge accomplishment for Heather, and I’m so proud for her & her team!

I’m taking off a day early this week to enjoy the holiday weekend and this beautiful weather! Some links for your weekend:

+ This beautiful poster (above) from Spread the Love (by Melanie Linder) can be customized for your wedding! Melanie’s blog and shop are chock full of beautiful things… mostly not wedding related. via happy cavalier

+ This week Margot and I both talked about coming to the realization that work is just… well, work. We’re both lucky to have great jobs, but sometimes it turns into a whole lot of stress, and the line between work and personal life gets a bit too blurry. You can read my post here and Margot’s here.

+ A combination pie shop and design studio! John Bielenberg started Project M to “inspire and educate young designers, writers, photographers and filmmakers by proving that their work—especially their wrongest thinking—can have a positive and significant impact on the world.” Through design, the group has helped with a conservation area in Costa Rica, Micro-financing in Ghana, and connecting households to fresh water in Hale County Alabama (among many other community-oriented projects). Last year, they started PieLab, with just their great idea of a pie shop/studio and a successful fund raising campaign through KickStarter. PieLab is now nominated for a a James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Restaurant Design. Hear more about PieLab here and here.

+ I love these colorful TableArt tumblers, found via Remodelista.
