It seems fitting to end the year with one of my favorite projects — my 2012 collection for letterpress invitation company Bella Figura. This is my third year working with them, and designing the collections in the summer/fall is always really fun (and hard to keep secret). The new collection launched yesterday, and here are my designs!

November and December are kind of crazy months… invitation design work slows down as people focus on the holidays rather than their weddings, and I’m busy writing up quotes and meeting with potential clients about Spring and Summer events. It’s a nice change of pace and gives me a few spare minutes to think about this year’s successes and failures and what 2012 might look like.

Now that Hello Tenfold has a line of everyday notecards, I thought I’d give the whole craft fair scene another go (I seem to have finally recovered from my first craft fair experience in 2009) and so Hello Tenfold will be making an appearance at Rock & Shop in Durham on December 17th. Because I have a secret burning desire to design textiles, I decided to dip my toes in those waters by having some fat quarters printed for tea towels, just in time for the market. Above is a peek of my very limited first run, which will be available at Rock & Shop and maybe, maybe, maybe available online at some point, too. I’ll admit this has my head spinning (mostly thinking of all the pillows I could make for our house)! It’s always exciting to work with a new medium. More photos to come once these are all sewn up!

Cara and Nate wanted romantic, modern wedding invitations with a twist on the traditional look for their wine country wedding. While we stuck with more traditional fonts, we added a literal twist to the layout and some vintage-inspired flourishes. A pattern on the envelope liner jazzed things up. Cara and Nate’s invitations were screen printed on thick, 100% cotton paper.

Happy day! The brand new, everyday Hello Tenfold collection is live!

I originally thought Hello Tenfold would begin with an everyday collection, but I quickly fell in love with wedding invitation design. So today is a big “finally!” for me. The note card designs were inspired by doodles turned into patterns, vintage ephemera, and patterns found in nature. Each design is available as a boxed set or individual card, and with the exception of the “geo” cards which launched last week, all are screen printed on luxurious cotton paper. (The Geo cards are printed on pale pink or soft white recycled paper.)

Hello Tenfold has a new look! After lots of agonizing over a new logo, we settled on this one which is the perfect blend of whimsy and simplicity if I do say so myself. We’re busy working on a new website to launch late Fall, and in the coming weeks we’ll have a full collection of notecards available. This is my first real foray into non-wedding stationery design, and I’m so excited. The first set of cards, above and below, are now available in the shop in two color schemes — pink/orange and blue/green! Hooray!

Remember this peek a while back? I finally have some photos to share! This suite was created for Stephanie, who owns two boutiques in Connecticut — Dockside Dogs and Webster Road — and dabbles in graphic design herself.

Although she wanted a formal/traditional touch to her invitations, Stephanie was most attracted to fun and artistic invitations with bold typography. JCrew and Kate Spade “looks” heavily inspired her wedding planning, and although her wedding won’t be right on the water, she wanted to add a nautical, preppy feel to her paper goods. She chose navy and pale turquoise for her color scheme, and we chose two complementing, organic patterns for the envelope liner, belly band, and invitation itself. The invitations were screen printed on 100% cotton paper, and the RSVP, brunch, and reception cards were screen printed on recycled navy and kraft papers.

Hillary, Kate, and I are working on their day-of wedding stationery as we speak, but I couldn’t wait to show off their invites! Hillary and Kate will have a rustic, farm wedding this fall in North Carolina, and wanted their invitations to reflect a casual but elegant affair. Today Whitney Deal’s website launched, and it’s full of gorgeous handmade wedding and bridesmaid dresses in Whitney’s signature simple/stylish look. It’s so fun to work with really visual “clients” (better yet, friends!) who arrive loaded with beautiful inspiration images and plain good taste. Also awesome?
