in the studio: dot and flourish

September 14th, 2011 · 4 Comments

Remember this peek a while back? I finally have some photos to share! This suite was created for Stephanie, who owns two boutiques in Connecticut — Dockside Dogs and Webster Road — and dabbles in graphic design herself.

Although she wanted a formal/traditional touch to her invitations, Stephanie was most attracted to fun and artistic invitations with bold typography. JCrew and Kate Spade “looks” heavily inspired her wedding planning, and although her wedding won’t be right on the water, she wanted to add a nautical, preppy feel to her paper goods. She chose navy and pale turquoise for her color scheme, and we chose two complementing, organic patterns for the envelope liner, belly band, and invitation itself. The invitations were screen printed on 100% cotton paper, and the RSVP, brunch, and reception cards were screen printed on recycled navy and kraft papers.

Hillary, Kate, and I are working on their day-of wedding stationery as we speak, but I couldn’t wait to show off their invites! Hillary and Kate will have a rustic, farm wedding this fall in North Carolina, and wanted their invitations to reflect a casual but elegant affair. Thanks to Nole at Oh So Beautiful Paper for featuring these invitations this morning!

in the studio: whitney deal

This week I’m going to be sharing lots of new work! Today Whitney Deal’s website launched, and it’s full of gorgeous handmade wedding and bridesmaid dresses in Whitney’s signature simple/stylish look. It’s so fun to work with really visual “clients” (better yet, friends!) who arrive loaded with beautiful inspiration images and plain good taste. Also awesome? The pretty girl you see modeling Whitney’s line is my old friend Lauren Sloan.

Congratulations, Whitney!

P.S. Order in the next 2 weeks and get free shipping with the code LAUNCH.

I was so excited to get some new photos of the Eleanor wedding invitation suite from photographers You Go, I Go, We Go last night! What started as an invitation and RSVP is now available as a full suite with programs, menus, reception cards, alternate liner patterns, and more. While I haven’t had the full suite photographed yet, this picture gives a little taste. Can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on when the new Hello Tenfold site launches this fall!

in the studio: tim & ellinor

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind! I’ve been knee-deep in some secret projects… well, Bella Figura isn’t so secret, is it? My 2012 collection is underway, along with the second secret project that really is secret. I’ll be able to share that one in a couple months!

Because things have been hopping, I haven’t had time to photograph work or even get organized enough for someone else to photograph my work. So for multiple reasons, you can imagine my surprise and delight when I opened up 100 Layer Cake last week, and saw Tim & Ellinor’s wedding featured! Ellinor, Downey Street Events, and I worked hard to create a custom suite of paper goods which was beautifully photographed by Annie McElwain.

Tim and Ellinor planned a California vineyard wedding on a budget (read some of their money-saving tips here) which meant including lots of DIY projects, like the wine cork table number holders, typewriter-printed invitation envelopes, and handmade soaps. Speaking of the soaps (top photo), Tim’s mom made them from scratch!

A big congrats and thank you to Tim and Ellinor, and big thank yous to Downey Street Events (who was wonderful to work with) and Annie McElwain for beautifully capturing the paper goods!
