Today I’m headed out of town to “help” a florist friend (and the person who did the beautiful flowers at my wedding, above and below) with some rehearsal dinner and wedding flowers. I can’t wait!

I love summer. Lately, our house has been full of roses, mint and thyme sprigs, and other clippings from the yard. There was a point a few years ago, when I was like a plant thief… anytime I saw a plant I liked, I’d take a piece and try to root it at home. Most didn’t really turn out. Renee to the rescue! Renee from Wolfie and the Sneak does a weekly gardening post on Modish, and last week it was all about how to root plants. (Asprin, who knew?) Erin of Reading My Tea Leaves recently posted this great idea (above) for simple DIY hanging wall vases, and I’m determined to combine the two.

The (purely paper) Flower Shoppe

May 12th, 2010 · 7 Comments

If you’re going to be in NYC on Thursday and Friday, stop by Broadway and 62nd to see David Stark’s latest collaboration with West Elm. If you don’t know of Stark, he’s a renowned event producer & designer who creates imaginative events for celebrities, major corporations, and non-profits alike. The (purely paper) Flower Shoppe is an installation of plants, watering cans and garden tools, all created by Stark from the pages of books.

The event is a precursor to David’s upcoming holiday collection for West Elm, and celebrates Stark’s newest book, David Stark Design, a collection of all of his best events and the story behind how he came up with the ideas.

Do you subscribe to the Terrain newsletters? I do, not because I’ve ever shopped there, but because it’s nice to find something so beautifully designed in my inbox!
