Step 8: Finishing Body

Step 9: Create the Green Leafy Hat/Cap

  • Make magic ring.
  • Round 1: 6 sc in ring, close slip stitch.
  • Rounds 2 & 3: sc in each stitch (work evenly).
  • Round 4: Increase in every stitch (2 sc in each).
  • Round 5: 1 sc, 1 increase (repeat around).
  • Rounds 6 & 7: sc evenly (no increases).
  • Round 8: Work detailed textured stitches—half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), chains, slip stitches—creating the leaf shapes and ruffles around the cap edge.

Step 10: Make Small Green Leaves (6 Leaves Total)

  • Crochet small leaves repeating similar shell or ruffle stitches.
  • Fasten off leaving long tails for sewing.

Step 11: Sew Leaves and Cap onto Eggplant

  • Position leaves evenly around the top of the body.
  • Use yarn needle and long tails to securely stitch each leaf in place, ensuring they hug the eggplant body.
  • Attach leafy cap positioned so one leaf lies centered between the eyes for charm.

Step 12: Crochet the Pink Plates (Decoration)

  • Make small magic ring with 6 sc.
  • Round 2: 1 sc, 1 increase (repeat around).
  • Make two plates.
  • Sew plates on each side of eggplant one round below eyes using yarn needle and long tails.

Tutor’s Suggestions:

  • Work in continuous spiral rounds, marking the first stitch of each round with a stitch marker for easy counting.
  • Safety eyes placed early help visualize expression and positioning.
  • Keep the stuffing firm but not overstuffed to maintain the amigurumi shape.
  • Adjust leaf and plate positioning for desired look.
  • Use matching or complementary yarn colors for a fun effect.

Uses:

  • Charming home or kitchen decor.
  • Cute gift or keychain ornament.
  • Fun toy or decor for children’s rooms.

Tip:

Take your time on the leaf/textured cap rounds — the detailed stitches give your eggplant character and uniqueness. Blocking or shaping leaves after sewing can enhance a realistic look.

Conclusion:
With just a few colors and basic stitches, you can make this adorable eggplant amigurumi that is sure to brighten your space or delight a friend. Follow the spiral shaping and finishing details carefully to get a perfectly plump and charming vegetable buddy.
