Easy & Fast Sousplat Crochet Model

Materials

  • More Daniel yarn, color Contecsi 885 (number 6 yarn)
  • Crochet hook 3 mm
  • Scissors

Abbreviations

  • Ch = chain
  • Dc = double crochet (high stitch)
  • Sc = single crochet
  • Sl st = slip stitch
  • Cluster = unfinished double crochets worked together
  • Pico (Picot) = small decorative chain loop finished with a slip stitch

Pattern Steps

Round 1 – Magic Ring and Base Round

  1. Make a magic ring or alternatively ch 6 and join to form a ring.
  2. Ch 2 (counts as first dc).
  3. Work 11 more dc into the ring, counting the initial ch 2 as the first dc – total 12 dc.
  4. Tighten the ring by pulling the tail yarn.
  5. Join with a sl st in the 3rd chain of the initial ch 2.

Round 2 – Doubling the Stitches

  1. Ch 3 (counts as first dc plus ch 1 space).
  2. In the same space, work 1 dc.
  3. In the next dc of previous round, work 1 dc.
  4. Repeat increasing dc stitches in each base dc so that you reach 24 dc total at end of round.
  5. Join with sl st in the 3rd chain of initial ch 3.

Round 3 – Increasing to 48 dc

  1. Ch 3 (counts as first dc plus ch 1).
  2. In the same space, make 1 dc.
  3. Work 1 dc in each dc across, doubling stitches to reach 48 dc.
  4. Join with sl st.

Rounds 4 to 6 – Spacing Chain Pattern

  1. Ch 4 (counts as first dc + ch 1).
  2. Skip 1 stitch, dc in next stitch, ch 1 and repeat across the round.
  3. If the work begins to gather or ripple, modify by skip 1 base stitch, dc in next.
  4. Join with sl st.
  5. Repeat this pattern for 3 rounds total.

Rounds 7 to 9 – Double Chains with Dc

  1. Ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2).
  2. Skip 1 base stitch, dc in next stitch, ch 2 and repeat around.
  3. Join with sl st.
  4. Repeat total 3 rounds to open up fabric texture.

Rounds 10 to 12 – Triple Chains with Dc

  1. Ch 6 (3 for height + 3 for spacing).
  2. Skip 1 base stitch, dc in next stitch, ch 3 and repeat around.
  3. Join with sl st.
  4. Repeat total 3 rounds for airy texture.

Cluster Rows – Textured Cluster Stitch

Repeat the following cluster stitch rounds:

  1. In first ch space, sl st then ch 2.
  2. Make unfinished dc stitches: pull yarn through leaving last loop on hook, repeat 4 times (you will have 5 loops).
  3. Yarn over and pull through all loops to form the cluster.
  4. Ch 4. Repeat cluster in next ch space.
  5. At the end of round, join with sl st to the first cluster.
  6. Repeat for a second row with ch 4 spaces between clusters.
  7. Repeat for a third row similarly.

Finishing Round – Picots and Edging

  1. In first ch space, sl st, then ch 2.
  2. Work Picot: (sc, ch 3, sl st in first ch) in same space.
  3. Continue making picots spaced by ch 3, joined with sl st in each ch space around.
  4. End with a sl st and fasten off.
