about
I’m Ellie Snow, a freelance graphic designer in Durham, North Carolina, and the author and editor of Mint. I began Mint in February 2008 as a place to store an online collection of art, design, weddings, handmade objects that inspire me in my own work and life. In 2009 I began my stationery shop, Hello Tenfold, and launched my Bella Figura letterpress wedding invitation in 2010. Mint was included in the 2009 London Times article, “50 of the World’s Best Design Blogs,” and was featured in the March 2010 issue of Romantic Homes magazine. My work has been featured in HOW Magazine, Nice to Meet You Too, published by Victionary, and Impressive: Printmaking, Letterpress and Graphic Design, published by Gestalten.
When I’m not blogging or designing, I love spending time with my husband, scouring flea markets and vintage shops (I have a little vintage etsy shop called west + plum), eating Thai and Indian foods, reading a good novel, traveling, or drinking iced lattes surround by big stacks of design magazines.
If you’d like to say hi, request advertising info, or send a submission, I’d love to hear from you! You can email me at mintdesignblog at gmail dot com. Before submitting your work, please check out the submissions do and don’t list.
Adrienne Yancey is a trained graphic designer with a passion for holistic nutrition. She is inspired by traveling to new places, reading cookbooks and blogs, her awesome boyfriend, and the local food scene in the Triangle. She loves photography, her cat Fiona, vegetables, typography, cooking, and natural light. Her favorite foods to eat out are Indian or huevos rancheros. But she enjoys the simplicity of a baguette with local goat cheese, sun ripened tomatoes, and basil from her porch. She’s a morning person who loves to start her day with a run, a good breakfast and a cup of coffee. She daydreams about new recipes and loves to inspire people to eat more vegetables. You can find her at the farmer’s market, a local coffee shop, or biking around Raleigh, NC. Adrienne joined Mint in February of 2010, and helps with behind-the-scenes work as well as the “This Week’s Recipe” series and “Links for Your Weekend. ”
Margot Harrington is smitten by art, printmaking, interior design, diy projects, the internet, and Chicago. She’s learning to sew, rehab furniture, take better photos and fix bikes. She has a slightly abnormal attachment for the oh-so-sexy ampersand in just about every typeface. She gets geeked over glyphs, oldstyle numerals, cheese, antique books & dusty suitcases, vintage pyrex, bike rides, incessant silliness, eating weird foods, italics, hand-drawn type and old wacky electronics. Above all, Margot a designer captivated by all forms of making and doing. On Mondays, Margot joins Mint with the Howdy Do It series, a weekly column by Margot and Ellie about the things we do to keep ourselves organized, inspired and on track while being self-employed. (This feature is on hiatus for a bit, but you can see old posts in the archives!)
Lindsay Preston is an artist and graphic designer from sunny San Diego. She is inspired by patterns; in nature, in foreign cultures, and in human action. Lindsay enjoys making things with her hands, riding her Centurion bike around town, reading out loud, collecting records and objects, and hearing people use phrases like “as the crow flies.” On Thursdays in the Quick Queries series, Lindsay brings us work by contemporary artists and answers to the questions everyone has been wondering about them, like “pancakes or waffles?”
