cabinet of curiosities

I have no idea how I stumbled on the blog Morbid Anatomy. As the name implies, it’s not for the faint of heart, but Joanna Ebenstein’s blog is full of fascinating stuff. Someday I’ll make it to Paris, and visiting the Cabinet of Curiosities of Bonnier de la Mosson will definitely be on my sight-seeing list.

This gorgeous cabinet is located at the Bibliotèque centrale du Muséum national d’Histoire Naturelle and was built in the 18th century. You can read more about it on Morbid Anatomy and see Joanna’s whole set of images on flickr.

Thanks to Joanna for use of these beautiful images!

Funny, my in-laws are about to leave the States for Paris, and my mother-in-law showed me this place as one of their “must see” stops! I think it is so beautiful…but, I must admit a little confused about how i feel about all the animals and animal parts. But, all so beautiful nonetheless!

Beautiful! Such an inspiring place. The closest I can get to something like this is now when I attend my science/nature class at my local college ….well not that pretty, but stuffed animals there are plenty of.
